Our favorite kinesio tape also happens to be one of the cheapest. Read on to find out why we ranked this one as the best.
If you use kinesiology tape frequently you know the pain of paying upwards of $20 a roll at a drug store or sports store for the brand-name versions. Adding to the pain to your wallet, many people have problems with skin reactions to the adhesive in the brand name tape leaving red swollen skin or blisters.
We tried a variety of off-brand tapes. We looked for ease of use, proper support, adhesion, and skin reactions. To pass the test the tape needed to provide proper support but it also needed to stay put when sweating and not cause skin reactions.
Most generic tapes did a somewhat decent job. Some of the cheaper tapes tended to come loose when sweating or not stay adhered for more than a day. None of the generic ones we tried caused a skin reaction.
The tape that passed our tests: OK Tape
This one stayed put, tolerated sweating, stretched, and supported well. It did not cause skin reactions, even in someone who had constant problems with brand name tape. It comes in a variety of colors and in precut strips or a continuous roll. The precut rolls of 20 pieces are about $6.79 per roll and the continuous rolls were $5.39.
